Chronicles of the Lazy Sovereign Novel - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
“Liar!”
It was my mistake to trust him.
It was my mistake to trust people!
Despite his words, Wi San-ho had not returned even after a good while. Wei Yan-ho could not determine the exact time, but judging from the position of the sun, it seemed that several Shijin had already passed, but Wi San-ho did not show signs of returning.
Wei Yan-ho, who was wandering around in bed in the shade of a tree, looked at the corpses with an uncomfortable expression.
“Wow.”
If there were no corpses nearby, I could at least sleep peacefully, but with corpses that I had never seen before right in front of him, Wei Yan-ho felt anxious and uncomfortable, unable to sleep well.
“If it was going to be like this, I should have taken him!”
Of course, Wei Yan-ho knew this was silly.
Even being a pervert, someone who used demonic arts would be much stronger than Wei Yan-ho, so following the current would only be an obstacle. Also, with Wei Yan-ho’s Gyeonggong skills, it would be treated as a simple burden in urgent situations.
But if he said he’d be back early, shouldn’t he be back early?
The sun was already setting.
How dangerous were the nights in the mountains! What would happen if the sun went down?
For the fragile Wei Yan-ho, walking the mountain alone at night was a terrifying thought.
“…Are there tigers on this mountain?”
It was not a situation in which I could guarantee that there were none. Being such a deep mountain, it would not be strange for one or two tigers to roam around.
Besides, wasn’t this the perfect situation for wild beasts to attack?
The sun was setting, and just in front of him were corpses that the wild beasts would love.
Wei Yan-ho began to feel more and more anxious.
“What do I have to do?”
Waiting for Wei San-ho to return would be the best course of action, but unfortunately, Wi San-ho had already left for several Shijin.
It was too long for him to catch and deal with a pervert.
Of course, there was no way the great Wi San-ho would be defeated by a pervert.
It wasn’t just because he was his brother: Wi San-ho was truly ridiculously strong.
Few people his age could match him. Even seeing all Gangho, Wei Yan-ho could not imagine that there were many people with abilities comparable to those of Wi San-ho.
Sometimes it seemed that Wi San-ho could even be stronger than Wi Jeong-han. Wei Yan-ho, with a superficial knowledge of martial arts, could not know for sure, but it was absolutely impossible for a mere lustful demon to threaten Wi San-ho.
“Wow.”
But still, something must have happened, otherwise why would I be so late?
“Sigh.”
Wei Yan-ho stood up with difficulty. I had to do something about it. If I was still lazy, I could become easy prey.
Laziness was fine when it was time to be, but there was nothing more important than life.
“First, I should at least climb a tree…”
At that time, a sad sound reached the ears of Wei Yan-ho.
Rumble, rumbl, rumbl!
Wei Yan-ho looked up at the sky with a slightly rigid expression.
In the distant sky, black storm clouds were fast approaching. Wei Yan-ho narrowed his eyes and turned his head.
He could see two horses and two corpses.
“Really… I’m fucked.”
Wei Yan-ho was increasingly discouraged.
Whooooooosh!
A heavy rain began to fall on Wei Yan-ho’s head.
“Uf, what did I do to deserve this?”
Wei Yan-ho climbed the mountain by squeezing his teeth.
Relincho.
“Ah, these useless horses!”
Wei Yan-ho kicked the horse’s ass while he shook his head.
If they’re horses, shouldn’t they take people from one side to the other?
Wei Yan-ho had already completely forgotten that they had been carrying him until then. With the heavy rain, the horses became useless baggage.
“They say being nice doesn’t lead anywhere!”
When it started raining, he was most concerned about corpses.
If they were left alone, they would obviously become food for the beasts of the mountain, but he could not carry them either, so he had to do something. After burying the corpses in haste, the rain would fall into pitchers, and if he did not find shelter, he would surely be sick.
Getting sick would be lucky, but spending the night in the mountains after the soaked sunset was extremely dangerous.
His body temperature could fall quickly and kill him, and if he were attacked by a pack of wild beasts in the dark night, really terrible things would happen.
I had to find shelter from the rain as quickly as possible.
There was no way to find refuge from rain on the open path of the mountain, so the desperate Wei Yan-ho climbed the mountain looking for a cave or at least a place full of trees.
At first, he looked for a downward path, but as the horses were constantly slipping, he had no choice but to climb up and up. The problem was that the horses, which had been the best means of transport along the way, became completely mad as they entered the mountain.
The horses slipped and could not even climb small hills, and Wei Yan-ho barely managed to climb the mountain carrying the horses practically.
And that was while he was dragging two horses: his and Wi San-ho.
“Damn it, I can’t leave these things behind!”
A person in his right mind wouldn’t think of climbing a mountain by dragging horses.
Of course, Wei Yan-ho had initially planned to leave the horses behind.
But when he saw the horses motionless in the heavy rain, soaked, he felt sorry for them and could not bear to leave them behind.
“I’m an idiot!”
Wei Yan-ho kept grumbling as he pushed the backs of the horses up.
What did you eat to be so heavy?
Relincho.
The horse shook his head, but could not resist the force pushing him from behind.
Relincho!
After slipping several times, the horse resisted and kicked with its hind legs.
Punch!
Wei Yan-ho, struck by the back legs of the horse, shouted and fell to the ground.
“Ahhhhh!”
Having fallen down the steep slope, there was no way that it could easily stop.
Wei Yan-ho rolled for a while before finally stopping when he hit a cliff at the end of the slope.
– Oh, my back, you fucking foal!
And here he was, going through all this work so he wouldn’t abandon his master, and instead of thanking him, the horse kicked him!
Wei Yan-ho, who had decided to turn that foal into horse meat, slipped back on the ground.
He had lowered his hand, but it sank to the ground.
“Huh?”
Wei Yan-ho carefully examined where he had placed his hand.
From the outside, it seemed like a place where fallen leaves and branches had accumulated, but there was nothing underneath.
Wei Yan-ho swept the surrounding fallen leaves.
Then a large hole was revealed that covered the floor and wall.
It was a cave big enough for several adult men to pass comfortably.
Wei Yan-ho put his head in the cave.
Finding a cave was good, but if by chance there was a bear sheltering from the rain inside, he might have to risk his life unintentionally.
“Is there nothing there?”
Fortunately, he did not perceive any particular signs of life within the cave.
Wei Yan-ho climbed the slope to lower the horses and entered the cave.
The inside of the cave was quite spacious, more than I expected.
It was not very deep, but the circular gap was much larger than most of the pavilions.
Fortunately, he had found a place to take refuge from the rain.
Relincho.
Whether or not they knew they had found refuge from the rain, the foals slowly approached Wei Yan-ho.
“Damn it, I can’t even hit these things.”
The horse that had kicked him looked at Wei Yan-ho with clear eyes.
I wanted to kick his ass, but it was also true that thanks to him, I had found this place. Since I had a merit and a defect, I had to compensate them.
Wei Yan-ho entered the cave with the horses. As long as he could avoid rain, no matter where he was.
“Wow.”
Wei Yan-ho, who had abruptly tied the horses, took off her clothes. She was already soaked and covered with dirt.
If he kept using them, he’d catch a cold.
Wei Yan-ho unpacked his Botjim to look for clothes to change, but his Botjim was equally soaked. [TL/N: Botjim () is a traditional Korean fabric package used to transport or store personal belongings.]
In cases like this, they said we had to look for dry branches and light a fire…
But where could I find dry branches in the middle of that downpour?
“I sigh, I would rather die than suffer.”
Knowledge, however plausible, used to be useless when one was in that situation.
Besides, Wei Yan-ho was a man who quickly gave up.
Wei Yan-ho abruptly tied the horses to a rock bump on the ground, sat down and pulled out some dry meat. He had no choice but to chew the fish-flavored dried meat that had wet and let a long sigh escape.
“What kind of situation is this? They say leaving home means difficulties.”
And the fact that he didn’t even want to leave that house made Wei Yan-ho feel even more discouraged.
The rain became stronger and getting out of the cave became more and more difficult.
“…There is no choice.”
It seemed like he’d have to stay there for several days.
Meanwhile, Wei Yan-ho could do nothing but expect Wi San-ho to return.
Wei Yan-ho left a simple marker at the entrance of the cave.
If I were his brother, I could find where he was with just the prints and this marker.
Wei Yan-ho pulled a blanket out of his Botjim and abruptly drained moisture.
Then he spread the blanket on the floor and lay down.
I don’t know anymore, I’m going to sleep!
Wei Yan-ho frowned and felt an intense cold on the back.
But there was no way to dry the blanket either.
It was annoying, but what could I do about it?
Wei Yan-ho was a man who knew how to be satisfied with the given situation.
Wei Yan-ho fell asleep slowly.
The tiredness of not having rested for several days struck him at once.
Wei Yan-ho slept like a dead man.
One day passed and two days passed, but Wei Yan-ho showed no signs of awakening.
‘How long has it been?’
It was still raining outside the cave.
And the horses he had tied up when he went to sleep were not in sight.
‘That’s why they call themselves beasts…’
After all the troubles that had to happen to bring them here and protect them from the rain, they couldn’t stand it and fled…
That must be why they’re called beasts.
Of course, Wei Yan-ho never thought of the fact that during those two days, he had not given them grass to eat, let alone water to drink.
Wei Yan-ho closed his eyes again.
Anyway, he couldn’t move until it stopped raining. In that case, it would be more beneficial to sleep one more moment. Wei Yan-ho fell asleep again.
Another day happened like this.
Now only Wei Yan-ho’s breath flowed smoothly through the cave.
Then something strange happened.
Wei Yan-ho’s body began to rise slowly from the ground.
It was really a supernatural event.
Wei Yan-ho remained deeply asleep, but his body, along with the baggage scattered around him, rose slowly from the ground. Then, he began to fly slowly through the air towards the cave wall.
Wow!
Wei Yan-ho’s body, upon reaching the cave wall, did not slow down and loaded forward.
But curiously, he crossed the cave wall. “There were only traces of his stay in it, and the figure of Wei Yan-ho disappeared without a trace.
Like a ghost, Wei Yan-ho disappeared as if he had never been there.
